Yoga Nidra is a form of guided ‘sleeping yoga’ that is done in a lying down position (shavasana). No other poses are used. This type of yoga allows for healing at the cellular level and is also helpful for those who have trouble sleeping. Here is a link to a yoga nidra session with Amrit Desai of the Amrit Yoga Institute. I have not taken any training at the Institute but I do really enjoy this particular yoga nidra session. This is also a very nice yoga nidra session with John Vosler, a trainer at the Amrit Institute. If you are in the River Forest area of Chicago or the Orland Park area, my yoga teacher Marianne Steenvoorden, is trained through the Amrit Institute and offers yoga nidra sessions.
